Youth Worker Appreciation Dinner

6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Come celebrate this year’s accomplishments and meet youth workers from across the diocese. This dinner is open to all adults (on staff or volunteer) who work with youth in Middle School, High School, and Confirmation. Please invite all adults who participate in youth ministry activities in your parish, school, or scouting unit to attend.
All evenings include Mass, dinner, a talk on our annual theme “Truly Present,” and an awards program. There is no cost to attend but registration is required for all attendees. Please RSVP at least a week before the dinner you would like to attend. Each dinner will end with an awards presentation. The presented awards are described below.

Saint John Bosco Awards
Named for the patron of youth, this award recognizes those individuals who give generously of their time and talent to serve young people joyfully. Each parish, school, or scouting unit is invited to honor at least one outstanding youth worker from their community. These passionate and caring adults play a critical role in supporting effective youth ministry in the Diocese of Richmond.
Any adult can nominate someone from their parish, school, or scouting unit for the Saint John Bosco Award. All nominations need to be received by February 7, 2018.
Bronze Pelican Award
The Bronze Pelican Award is a Diocesan recognition sponsored by the Catholic Committees on Scouting for the Diocese of Richmond. It may be presented to any adult who is working with the scouting program under the Catholic auspices, to Catholics in scout units not chartered by the Church, and those who have made a significant contribution to scouting in the field of Catholic relationships. This award may be given to Catholic lay members, priests, and pastoral coordinators or those of another faith who have been supportive of Catholic scouting. The purpose of this program is to recognize the recipient’s outstanding contribution to the development of youth in the programs of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
Each Scouting unit, council, and parish is eligible to submit the name of a possible candidate for the reception of this award. All winners will be honored at the Appreciation Dinners. If you are interested in nominating someone for this award, please follow instructions listed here.
Nominations for the Bronze Pelican must be received by January 31, 2018.
Saint Vincent de Paul Award
Named for the patron of the diocese, the Saint Vincent de Paul Award honors an adult who has shown commitment and excellence in advancing the mission of the Office for Evangelization to share the joy of the Gospel and “make disciples” within the Diocese of Richmond. This award will be given to at least one individual in each vicariate to recognize those who assist the work of this office through event support, evangelization initiatives, and missionary zeal.
No nominations will be accepted for this award. The honorees will be chosen by the Office for Evangelization Staff.
