Initial Communication 

 

Over the past several years, the amount of questions relating to Gender Identity has steadily increased.  People often don’t know where to turn for answers and don’t know how to respond when faced with sensitive situations in their families or faith communities. Mary Rice Hasson is a leading Catholic speaker on the topic of Gender Identity. She has served as a keynote speaker around the country and at the Vatican. Mary is also a co-founder of the Person and Identity Project, which aims to promote an authentic vision of the human person and to counter gender ideology.

The Office for Evangelization is excited to provide several opportunities for people to hear from Mary in March of 2023. We will provide sessions for staff during work hours and then separate sessions for parents in the evening.

We understand that these locations don’t cover the entirety of the Diocese and look forward to partnering with Mary to provide more sessions in the future.

Staff Sessions

The staff sessions are free and are open to all employees and clergy of parishes, schools or campus ministries.

We will provide lunch and ask that everyone register in advance. The deadline for registration for the staff sessions is February 26, at 11:59pm.

Staff Sessions will be at the following locations:

Tuesday, March 7^th (11:00am – 2:30pm) at Church of the Incarnation, Charlottesville

Wednesday, March 8^th (11:00am – 2:30pm) at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Newport News

 

Parent Sessions

Our parent sessions will be specifically for parents and guardians of teens and children. We ask that people refrain from bringing their teens and children to the session.

We strongly recommend that you register for the parent session, however we will accept walk-ins. By registering in advance, you allow us to ensure we have the proper amount of handouts, chairs, and refreshments.

Parent Sessions will be at the following locations:

Sunday, March 5^th (6:30pm – 8:00pm) at Saint Michael Catholic Church, Glen Allen

Tuesday, March 7^th (7:00pm – 8:30pm) at Church of the Incarnation, Charlottesville

Wednesday, March 8^th (7:00pm – 8:30pm) at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Newport News
*This session will begin immediately following the 6:30pm daily Mass. All are welcome to attend Mass*
