Youth Minister Retreat

Register Here!

The last day to register is Monday, April 14 at 12noon

Feeling the need to get away and retreat with the Lord? As people who serve teens, families, and parishes, youth ministers can have a hard time making time for the Lord to pour into our own hearts. This retreat is an opportunity to pause, spend intentional time with Jesus, and live in Christian community. Be filled with the Spirit as we rediscover the heart of the Gospel message and find complete purpose and joy!

The schedule includes keynote talks, small group discussion, sacraments, and outdoor reflection (weather permitting). Lunch and dinner will be included on Friday, and breakfast and lunch will be included on Saturday. Sleeping accommodations are double rooms, with linens provided by the retreat center.

Who should attend this retreat?

The diocesan Youth Minister Retreat is intended for Youth Ministers in the Diocese of Richmond. If you are a full-time, part-time, or volunteer Youth Minister at your parish, you are invited! In addition, Youth Ministers may invite a select 1-2 youth ministry volunteers from their parish to register for this retreat. All attendees must be at least 21 years old.

Where and when is the retreat?

The retreat will take place May 2-3, 2025 at Roslyn Retreat Center near the James River in Richmond, Virginia.

The address is: 8727 River Road, Richmond, VA 23229. Check in will begin at 10:30am on Friday, May 2, and the retreat will conclude by 3:30pm on Saturday, May 3.

Where will I stay?

All participants will stay in rooms at Roslyn Retreat Center. Participants will be placed with one other person of the same sex in a room with two beds; you have the option of designating a roommate during the registration process. A married couple attending together will be placed in a private room together. Linens and towels are provided by the retreat center.

What is the theme?

The theme is based on the Office for Evangelization theme for the year, “Complete.” In the Gospel of John, Jesus tells the disciples that He is the vine and they are the branches, asking them to remain in His love. Jesus says “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete” (John 15:11). Jesus desires for us to experience complete joy in the lives we live and the fruit we produce. We are called to love as He loves and remain in Him through everything; this might feel impossible at times, but the reward of Heaven is worth the challenge! During the retreat, we will unpack what it means to be connected to the True Vine and to experience His complete joy in all aspects of our lives and ministries.

Who is the keynote speaker?

Our speaker is Ali Hoffman. She has a passion for Jesus, the Catholic Church, her family, donuts, and Chipotle, in that order. She served with NET Ministries and after graduating from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota with a degree in Catholic Studies and Family Studies, she moved back home to the GREAT state of Texas where she was co-youth coordinator at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic church in Carrollton, Texas for 6 years. She now travels the globe full time preaching the Gospel and making disciples. You can find her on Instagram, @theoodlesofdoodles.

Will sacraments be available?

Yes! We will celebrate daily Mass on both days, and we will have a time when Reconciliation is available. In addition, Eucharistic Adoration and other prayer and reflection opportunities will be offered.
