Initial Communication

Who should attend this retreat?

The diocesan Youth Minister Retreat is intended for Youth Ministers in the Diocese of Richmond.  If you are a full-time, part-time, or volunteer Youth Minister at your parish, you are invited!  In addition, Youth Ministers may invite a select 1-2 youth ministry volunteers from their parish to register for this retreat.  All attendees must be at least 21 years old.

Where and when is the retreat?

The retreat will take place April 21-22, 2023 at Roslyn Retreat Center near the James River in Richmond, Virginia.

The address is:  8727 River Road, Richmond, VA 23229.  Check in will begin at 10:30am on Friday, April 21, and the retreat will conclude by 3:00pm on Saturday, April 22.

Where will I stay?

All participants will stay in rooms at Roslyn Retreat Center.  Participants will be placed with one other person of the same gender in a room with two beds, though you have the option of designating a roommate during the registration process.  A married couple attending together will have a private room together.  Linens are provided by the retreat center.

What is the theme?

The theme will be based on the office theme for the year, “from the rising of the sun to its setting.”  Christ has risen not only in the lives of the teens and families we serve but in our own lives – do we let His light transform everything?  Do we hope with joyful expectation for the coming of our Savior, the Light who is sure to come again every morning?  Do we see the beauty at the end of the day?  Join us as we delve into our own relationships with the Lord!

Who is the keynote speaker?

This year, we are pleased to host Kris Frank as our Keynote Speaker for the weekend.

Kris Frank attended Franciscan University and graduated in 2008 with a degree in catechetics and theology with a youth ministry concentration. He has been a part of youth programs in Pennsylvania, Florida, and Texas. He now serves as vice president of Vagabond Missions in Steubenville, Ohio, where he lives. Kris also has been privileged to travel around the country, sharing the Gospel with teens and young adults at various retreats, camps, and conferences. Kris spends his free time with his wife, Grace, and their five children.

Will sacraments be available?
